Today Mr Marshall came to school
to teach us all
about how bread is made.
We watched him demonstrate
how to make bread.
This is what we found out...
BREAD
Ingredients:
Flour , salt, yeast, water.
Put the flour on the table.
Sprinkle a small amount of salt on top.
Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients.
Sprinkle a small amount of yeast on top of the flour.
Pour some water in the well.
Mix with your hands to make the dough.
Add more water if needed.
Keep mixing and kneading the dough with your hands
and fingers.
Leave it to rest and rise.
Mr Marshall let us feel the
dough that had risen.
It felt… soft,
squishy, squirmy, smooth, gooey, sticky
and soft like marshmallows.
After he showed us how to
make the dough.
He then showed us how to make a mini pizza from the bread.
He also showed us some of the tools he uses when
he bakes.
First a razor sharp knife
to cut and slice the bread
and then a scraper,
to scrape up the rest of the
ingredients
so that nothing is wasted.
He showed us all the
different types of bread
that he made from the dough. There were…
chocolate buns, iced buns,
pizza, cheese loaves,
Vienna loaves, jam buns and cheese buns.
When we got back to class
we all felt hungry
because what he made looked…
awesomely delicious, mouth
watering, super- yum,
amazing, incredible, delicious and divine.
Thank you Mr Marshall for sharing your knowledge with us
and helping us with our inquiry learning.
